Therapy Agreement
Therapy sessions
Sessions will last 50 minutes and take place at an agreed time and location (either online or in person). The frequency of sessions will be agreed together and reviewed as needed.
Therapy is a collaborative process. You can ask questions, discuss concerns and review your goals at any point. You are free to withdraw your consent to therapy at any time.
Fees and cancellations
The fee for each session is £130, payable in advance of the session. If the session is not paid for in advance, it will not go ahead.
If you cancel or rearrange a session with less than 48 hours notice, the full session fee will be payable. Sessions cancelled with at least 48 hours notice will not be charged.
If your clinical psychologist needs to cancel a session, you will be provided with as much notice as possible and arrange an alternative appointment where appropriate.
Confidentiality
Information you share in therapy will be treated as confidential which means that what you share with your clinical psychologist will not be shared with anyone else.
There are circumstances in which confidentiality may need to be limited, including where:
a) There is a concern that you are a risk to yourself.
b) There is a concern that you are a risk to others.
c) There is a concern that you are at risk from other people.
d) There are safeguarding concerns about a child or vulnerable person.
In these scenarios, your clinical psychologist has a duty of care and is legally required to share any relevant information with the relevant third-party agencies. If possible and appropriate, this will be discussed with you first. Aspects of clinical work may be discussed in professional supervision or consultation to support safe and effective practice. Appropriate steps will be taken to protect your identity and confidentiality.
Privacy and records
Your clinical psychologist will maintain approproate clinical records which will be stored securely in accordance with applicable data protection requirements. Further details about how your information is collected, stored, used and retained, and your rights under data protection law, are provided in the privacy notice section of this document.
Crisis and emergency support
Psych & Soma is not a crisis or emergency service. An immediate response to emails, messages or calls outside scheduled sessions cannot be guaranteed. If you need urgent mental health support in England, please contact NHS 111 and select the mental health option where available. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999 or attend the nearest A&E department.
Communication
We will agree appropriate ways to communicate about appointments and practical matters. Email and text messages are not intended for urgent clinical support, and a response will not be immediate.
Ending therapy
You can end therapy at any time. Where possible, it is encouraged to discuss ending therapy together so that progress can be reviewed and any ongoing support considered.
Your Clinical Psychologist may also recommend ending or transferring therapy if required. Where appropriate, this will be discussed with you and a plan for next steps considered.
Complaints and concerns
If you have any concerns about your therapy, you are encouraged to raise them with your clinical psychologist in the first instance so that they can be addressed.
However, if you have concerns about fitness to practise, professional conduct or competence, you can raise a concern with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) at www.hcpc-uk.org/concerns.
You do not need to raise the concern with your clinical psychologist first, and you can contact the HCPC directly at any time.
Consent and agreement
I confirm that I have read and understand the content outlined in this therapy agreement, and have had the opportunity to ask questions if required.
